Audio-Visual Policy

WHO MAY BORROW-- Borrowers must have a valid Ouachita Parish Public Library card with no outstanding charges and must be at least 17 years old. If you live in another parish, you must have a Trailblazer card, which may be obtained at your local parish library.

LOAN PERIOD AND LIMIT -- Videos are loaned for a period of 7 days. There is a limit of 4 DVD's per adult card. DVD's are loaned for a period of 7 days.  Overdue fines are $.25 per day for each overdue video or DVD.  Senior citizens are NOT exempt from these charges.

REQUESTING VIDEOS-- Video requests may be made at any branch of the library.  Requests may also be placed at any patron access computer or from a home computer. Requests will be filled in the order they are placed, regardless of the owning branch or the branch where the request is placed. Videos may be returned to any branch in the system.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS-- The borrower is responsible for any damages to videos checked out on their card. Videos should be rewound. Senior citizens are NOT exempt from these charges. Videos may be renewed only one time and they may be brought into the library for renewal, by calling TeleCirc (our automated renewal service) at 327-1497, or by using the library web page. This is consistent with book renewals.

PUBLIC PERFORMANCE RIGHTS-- Videos that are being shown to a group, such as daycare, schools, or churches, must have public performance rights in order to not be in violation of copyright laws. These are usually clearly marked and notation is provided in the computer record. Patrons may check with the library if they desire more information on copyright laws. Staff will not knowingly check out non-public performance videos for use in a group setting.
