July 1 Tuesday 2 p.m. West Ouachita "Country Cookin'" mixed with nostalgia from "Big Mama's Old Black Pot". Enjoy a cooking demonstration and sample old fashion food from the past.
July 3 Thursday 1-3 p.m. Sterlington Documentary -Kara Walker - film on contemporary artist named on theTime's 2007 100 most influential people; optional art activity to follow.
July 7 Tuesday 6:30 p.m. Louise Williams Bridge to Freedom (1965), a documentary of the march from Selma to Montgomery, a turning point for voting rights. Part of the award-winning series, Eyes on the Prize: America's civil rights years, 1954-1965.
July 9 Wednesday 2 p.m. West Monroe

"Retro Gardening". Today's pastime, yesterday's necessity. Making the most from your garden without it getting the best of you!

July 14 Monday 6-8 p.m. Sterlington Documentary - Everyday Battle: Civil rights legend Fannie Lou Hammer
July 15 Tuesday 2 p.m. West Ouachita Altered Art Class for Adults - give new life to vintage objects by turning them into works of art. Bring personal photos, mementoes, old post cards, letters, maps, etc., and learn how to alter them into your own personal keepsakes. Registration limited to 20. Reg@327-5414.
July 22 Tuesday 10:30 a.m. Carver An eye witness account of life in the 60s and 70s with Pastor Roosevelt Wright, Jr. Program will be located at Powell Recreation Center.
July 22 Tuesday 6 p.m. Ouachita Valley Dr. Jeffery Anderson, ULM, presents Civil Rights in the South.
July 23 Wednesday 2 p.m. West Monroe Local author karen Petrus Williams will bring her new book, Vintage Furniture Painting and demonstrate painting techniques for creating family heirlooms.
