Summer Reading Challenge: Plant a Seed, Read
What is the summer reading challenge?
Since 1948, the Ouachita Parish Public Library has encouraged our patrons to challenge themselves during the summer to reach new goal posts in their reading.
What started as a reading club for children expanded to a months-long themed celebration for all ages.
Children, teens and adults alike can participate in our summer reading challenge to earn reading incentives, attend summer
workshops, and be entered into our grand prize drawing by reading and completing community challenges!
Can anyone, at any age join the summer reading challenge?
Yes! We offer three age categories with customized page goals, incentives,
and programs to help you keep your reading goals on track.
- Child Category: Ages 0-12.
- Teen Category: Ages 13-17.
- Adult Category: Ages 18 and older.
How long does the summer reading challenge last?
It begins Monday, June 1st, and ends Friday, July 31st. That's almost 9 whole weeks of summer fun with your local library!
What is this year’s theme?
This year, we have partnered with iREAD to present you with Plant a Seed, Read!
Get ready to get down and dirty as we focus on new growth in our community,
finding our roots at home, and of course, digging into an all new set of awesome plant-themed books!
